At Copperhill Mountain Lodge we support the non-profit organization NetWorks. For over a decade, NetWorks has been established in Romania, supporting the poorest children and families with bare necessities like firewood and flour, but also by supporting self-help and education. Many families live in clay houses with no electricity or running water. Most of the families are romani. Since January 1st 2012, we donate 1 SEK per room and night to the organization’s important work in Romania. In addition we have hired the NetWorks branch Dece Clothing to design and handmake parts of our staff uniforms. The women of some of these families have made our aprons, and the men have made the leather bow ties.
In the small village of Åre, many of us are involved with this particular cause. Young adults from Åre travel to the area regularly, and many become personally dedicated to helping these families. At Copperhill Mountain Lodge, we stay informed, inspired and updated by getting our staff involved, hosting lectures and hearing stories by those who travel to Romania to help. We always look for new ways of supporting these organizations – this winter by selling handmade hats at the hotel.
